MGYBA 2024-25 - 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th Basketball

2024-2025 Winter Basketball Registration is open to girls attending school in the Mars Area School District in Grades 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th.

ON-LINE Registration starts 9.20.24 through 10.7.24.

This year the MGYBA will offer the following basketball options:

TRAVEL LEAGUE TEAMS for 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade Girls.
IN-HOUSE PROGRAM to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grade Girls.

TRAVEL LEAGUE TEAMS

Travel teams will play in the Pittsburgh Youth Basketball League (PYBL). The games have historically been played on weekends in the Pittsburgh area from December through February. Game sites are TBD.
Team practices will commence late October/early November 2024. Each grade level will have weeknight practices in October/November and through-out the season into late February 2024.
Travel League Games are anticipated to commence in early December 2024 and run through February 2024.
Teams should expect approximately 12 to 18 total games pending grade level. Each team will also be entered into local tournament(s) throughout the season.
All of our teams will be synced to the Gamechanger Team Manager Mobile App. More information to follow regarding the App. It is anticipated to be a convenient way for you to follow your athlete’s game/practice schedule and stay connected with your coaches.
Registration for the 2024 -2025 season is $275.00 per player (includes uniform).
Parents are asked to be flexible with scheduling as it is typical practice and games can change due to the ever-changing environment to secure gym time.

TRAVEL TEAMS - We plan to place the girls on travel teams for the following Grade Level:

6th Grade A & B travel leagues.
5th Grade A & B travel leagues.
4th Grade A & B travel leagues.
One 3rd Grade team in a 4th Grade B travel league.

EVALUATIONS

Travel team evaluations for Grades 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th will take place during the week of October 14th, 2024. There will be a 2 night tryout for each grade. The location and times are yet to be determined. It is HIGHLY recommended that ALL players attend.
Girls selected to a travel team will NOT participate in the In-House Sessions and play only travel. Girls NOT selected to the travel team will participate in the In-House Program ONLY.

IN-HOUSE PROGRAM

2nd, 3rd, and 4th can participate in the IN-HOUSE Program.
IN-HOUSE sessions will run for 8 weeks starting early January 2025 until early March.
Practice(s) will be held during the week for IN-HOUSE teams and games on Saturdays.
Mars Area School District Gym Locations are TBD with potentially some games at other locations.
Registration for the 2024 -2025 season is $150.00 per player and includes a reversible mesh basketball jersey.
The In-House program’s goal and objective for each participate will be to introduce, promote, and develop basketball structures, fundamentals, skill sets, knowledge of basketball, team bonding, and positive sportsmanship. MGYBA will focus on positive reinforcement and basketball fundamental repetition.
This is the best option if your daughter is new to the game of basketball.

Finally, the Association will not tolerate any negative and/or confrontational behavior, excessive and lude language by its members towards other members, the players, the parents, the opponents, the referees, the spectators, and the other coaches affiliated with this association.
